About this tour

What the experience is really like.

Hosted by Oranje Umbrella, guiding Amsterdam for 14 years with 3,000+ verified guest reviews across GetYourGuide, Tripadvisor, Google.

Some visitors do not want a tour. They want a day in Amsterdam that works — the museum tickets already timed, the driver already waiting, the restaurant expecting them, and someone competent to ask about anything at all. That is what a Concierge Day is.

It begins before you land. We talk through what you want from the day, what you have already booked, who is travelling with you, how much walking is comfortable, and what would ruin the day if it went wrong. Then we build the itinerary and hold it lightly, because the best version of a day in Amsterdam is usually the one that adjusted twice.

What the day can include

A typical half day might be a hotel pickup, a private walk through the canal belt, a timed entry at the Rijksmuseum or the Van Gogh Museum, lunch at a table we reserved, and a canal cruise before you are dropped back. A full day adds space for the Anne Frank House, Museum Het Rembrandthuis, a neighborhood we choose together, an early dinner, and a first drink somewhere you would not have found.

It can also be far quieter than that. We regularly build days that are one museum, one long lunch, and a slow walk, because that is what the guests actually wanted. Nothing is compulsory and nothing is padded to fill the hours.

Transport, tickets, and the parts that go wrong

Amsterdam is a difficult city to move a group through. Trams are efficient and crowded, taxis cannot enter large parts of the center, museum tickets sell out days ahead in high season, and the walk between two obvious sights can be longer than it looks on a map. Every one of those problems is ours, not yours.

We book timed entry as soon as your day is confirmed, arrange a private driver where a car genuinely helps and walk where it does not, and keep alternatives ready for the two or three things most likely to fall over: a sold-out museum, a closed bridge, weather that turns, or a group that needs to sit down.

Layovers, cruise calls, and business trips

A long Schiphol layover is enough for a real half day in the city if the timing is handled by someone who knows exactly how long each leg takes. We collect you from the terminal, keep a hard eye on your return time, and get you back with margin rather than drama.

The same applies to a cruise call at the Passenger Terminal Amsterdam and to executives with one open afternoon between meetings. Tell us the fixed points in your schedule and we will build the most Amsterdam we responsibly can into the gap.

Why guests book this instead of separate tours

Booking four separate activities across one day means four meeting points, four sets of instructions, and four chances for the timing to fail. A concierge day replaces that with one host who holds the whole schedule and adjusts it in real time.

It also means you have a local advocate. Menus, prices, opening hours, cannabis rules, tipping norms, and the difference between a genuinely good canal cruise and a bad one are all things you can simply ask about instead of researching. Fourteen years of guiding Amsterdam is largely fourteen years of knowing which recommendation to give which guest.

How the time is used

The shape of your half day (4 hours) or full day (8 hours).

Before

Planning call and reservations

We agree the shape of the day, then book timed museum entry, restaurants, and any cruise or transfer in advance.

Morning

Door-to-door pickup

Your host collects you from the hotel, apartment, Schiphol, or the cruise terminal and starts the day where you are.

Midday

Culture, canals, and a table waiting

Museums with pre-booked entry, a walk through the neighborhoods you chose, and lunch reserved in your name.

Evening

Dinner, nightlife, or a quiet drop-off

A full day can end with dinner, live music, or a guided first hour of Amsterdam nightlife — or simply back to your hotel.

Timings are a guide. Your host adjusts the route for weather, pace, traffic, and whatever your group turns out to enjoy most.

Questions guests ask

Before you book.

Is a private car included?

Not by default. Much of central Amsterdam is faster and more pleasant on foot, so we quote a private driver separately and only recommend one where it genuinely improves the day.

How far ahead should we book?

A week or more is ideal, mainly because the Anne Frank House, the Van Gogh Museum, and the Rijksmuseum release timed tickets in advance and sell out in high season.

Can you work around limited mobility?

Yes, and we do it often. Tell us what is comfortable and we will build a day with short distances, seated stops, accessible venues, and a car where it helps.
